Weekend in Wroclaw: A Relaxed Two-Day Itinerary
Wrocław has so much to see it’s easy to get caught up in a “must-see” list. Good news: two days are enough to discover its top highlights, with time left for coffee and a relaxed walk. Here’s a plan that works if you stay just outside the center, like with us.
Day One: Old Town and Ostrów Tumski
- Morning: Main Market Square. One of the largest squares in Poland, with colorful townhouses and a Gothic Town Hall. A walk takes 30–45 minutes; touring the Town Hall interior takes about an hour. Along the way, look for Wrocław’s dwarfs—there are hundreds in the city.
- Late morning: Leopoldina Hall. Baroque hall of the University of Wrocław, full of gilding and frescoes. A good stop if you enjoy architecture.
- Afternoon: Racławice Panorama. Huge painting over 100 meters long depicting the 1794 Battle of Racławice. Touring takes about 45 minutes.
- Evening: Ostrów Tumski. The oldest part of the city, with the Gothic St. John the Baptist Cathedral and a walk over Tumski Bridge. At dusk it’s especially atmospheric.
Day Two: Centennial Hall, greenery & zoo
- Centennial Hall & Pergola. Designed by Max Berg, the hall is a UNESCO site since 2006. Next is the Pergola with Multimedia Fountain.
- Japanese Garden and Szczytnicki Park. The garden is seasonal, so check if it’s open before visiting. The park is the city’s largest green space, perfect for a calm walk. Allow 3–4 hours total, including the hall.
- Wrocław Zoo and Afrykarium. Poland’s oldest and largest zoo, opened in 1865. The Afrykarium, an oceanarium dedicated to African wildlife, is included in the zoo ticket. Note: dogs are not allowed in the zoo.
